Buying Pot Seeds

Update on buying pot seeds: I just received my latest seed order through the USPS PO box that I rent for about $60 / year at a nearby post office…in the box, along with my seeds, was a flyer from the USPS saying how much they appreciated my business, and would I like to purchase any other services from them…LOL!  No thanks, guys, you’re doing just fine!!

Placing that first seed order can be a little scary, and it certainly does pay to be cautious.  But the fact is that hundreds of people are buying pot seeds online successfully every day.  Here are a few basic facts that any potential seed buyer should know:

Seeds are actually very easy to purchase online and have them shipped by mail (again, these are small personal orders and not large, bulk, or commercial orders.)

Only use seed dealers that indicate they ship using “discreet” or “stealth” shipping methods.  Most do.

Buying with a credit card is common, easy, and fast.  Just make sure you’re ordering over an SSL-encrypted system.  You should see an “https://” address in your browser’s address bar, or a locked padlock symbol somewhere in your browser’s status bars.

The more seeds you order, the more you should consider dividing them up into separate shipments. On the off chance something gets lost or intercepted, it won’t be your entire order.

If you can, have your seeds delivered to a different address than the actual address of where your grow closet is located.

Be patient.  Buying pot seeds internationally (particularly cash orders) can easily take a couple of weeks to complete.  Discreet shipping methods generally aren’t trackable, so just relax and let it come to you.

On the slim chance your shipment is intercepted by your Customs or some other agency, they’ll send a letter informing you they’ve confiscated your package.  Based on plenty of anecdotal information over the years, that’s apparently as far as they typically go.  It also goes without saying that if they do give you an option to either pick it up or have it delivered, your best response is no response.

And remember, later on you can avoid using seeds – and the risk of seed shipments – altogether once you’ve learned to take cuttings from your plants and clone the varieties you like the best.

Follow the tips above for buying pot seeds safely and have fun growing your own exotic and delicious herbs!

Remember – All good weed starts with good seed!
